Community

In addition to our shows, exhibits and sales where we meet the public, Sun Country Iris Society has ongoing community projects.

GARDENING ANGELS
August and September of every year is the time Sun Country Iris Society members are digging up and dividing many of their iris rhizomes. Some of these irises have lost their registered names. The iris with lost names are collected by the Sun Country Iris Society Gardening Angels and donated to community projects or organizations such as planting iris at the Phoenix Zoo and donating rhizomes to the ASU West Campus. Some go to schools to teach youngsters how to garden, others go to organizations like Make a Difference which coordinates volunteers to help in many Phoenix area community projects. We also donate to nursing homes and non-profit organizations like churches. Our irises beautify a number of places throughout the valley.

DECEMBER DONATIONS DRIVE
Every year our members choose to donate as a club to a local charity. Donations are gathered at our December celebration.
